The Play “Race” Comes to TSU

The Theatre Program of Tennessee State University debuts a controversial play starting Thursday, November 7th to Sunday, November 10th. The play entitled “Race” is the latest play by Pulitzer and Tony Award – winning playwright David Mamet. The play will explore the questions of rape, sex, and race.

All weekend the play will take place on campus in the Cox – Lewis Theatre of the Performing Arts Center. Admission is free of charge but also includes adult language therefore it is suggested for mature audiences to attend.   TSU sophomore, Chance Holman is interested to see what the play has to offer.

“The play tonight seems very interesting. From what I heard about it, it involves race and drama so I look forward to it.”

Professor Marc Payne is director of the play. Performances will take place November 7th through the 9th at 7pm and on Sunday, November 10th, at 3pm. It has been arranged for discussions to take place immediately after each performance.
